Frequently Asked Questions

A refined guide to attending a release, purchasing from the House, and submitting pieces for consideration.

What is The Private House Collection?

The Private House Collection is a private designer consignment house in Melbourne, presenting authenticated designer handbags and luxury pieces within a monthly private release.

Each piece is thoughtfully presented on behalf of its owner within a calm and carefully considered environment.

How does the Private Release work?

Each month, the House presents a limited release of authenticated designer pieces within a private setting designed to feel refined, welcoming and intentionally paced.

Guests are invited to explore and acquire pieces at their own pace within the atmosphere of the House.

How do I attend a release?

Attendance is available by advance reservation only.

Guests may join the Private List to receive early access to upcoming releases, reservation announcements and invitations from the House.

What is the difference between Private Preview and Release Access?

Private Preview guests are welcomed ahead of the main release window and receive the first opportunity to explore and acquire pieces from the collection. Champagne is served on arrival.

Release Access guests attend during the main presentation window and receive full access to the monthly release.

Are tickets limited?

Yes. Attendance is intentionally limited for each release to preserve the atmosphere, pace and overall experience of the House.

Where are the releases held?

The Private House Collection is held within a private setting in Melbourne.

The exact venue details are shared with confirmed guests ahead of each release.

Are all pieces authenticated?

Every piece presented by the House undergoes a careful review process prior to acceptance.

Where supporting documentation is available, it is reviewed as part of the submission process. Independent authentication services may also be arranged where required to support the standards and integrity of the House.

Are sales final?

Yes. Due to the consignment nature of the release, all sales are final.

How do I pay for an item?

Payment is completed on the day via card unless otherwise advised.

A digital receipt and supporting documentation are provided following purchase.

How do I submit a piece for consideration?

Pieces may be submitted through the House submission form available on the website.

Sellers will be asked to provide item details, condition information, supporting documentation where available and imagery for review.

Does submitting a piece guarantee acceptance?

No. Every submission is reviewed individually with consideration given to condition, authenticity, desirability and overall suitability for the release.

To preserve the overall curation and atmosphere of the House, not all submissions are accepted.

What kinds of items do you accept?

The House primarily presents authenticated designer handbags and selected luxury accessories from leading international fashion houses including Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Saint Laurent, Celine, Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Loewe, Valentino, Bvlgari, Delvaux, Goyard and Alaïa, along with other notable international houses recognised for their craftsmanship, heritage and enduring design.

Acceptance is selective and guided by condition, authenticity, desirability, and overall suitability for the release.

What condition does my item need to be in?

Accepted pieces should be in excellent or carefully maintained condition, with wear consistent with respectful ownership.

Every piece is reviewed individually by the House.

Do I need proof of purchase?

Proof of purchase is welcomed where available, though not always required.

Any supporting documentation relating to the history or authenticity of the piece is helpful during review.

Do you offer authentication services?

Yes. Independent authentication services may be arranged where required prior to presentation.

How many pieces may I submit?

The House accepts up to three pieces per seller for each monthly release.

This allows every accepted piece to receive thoughtful presentation and consideration as part of the overall curation of the House.

Is there a fee to consign?

Yes. A House Preparation fee applies to approved pieces.

  • First accepted piece $160
  • Additional accepted pieces $90 each

This includes professional photography, authentication intake, pricing consultation, preparation for presentation, inclusion in the monthly Private Release, inclusion in the 24-Hour Private Drop and guidance regarding delivery arrangements through the House.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing is determined in consultation with the seller, based on current market conditions, brand, model, condition and desirability.

Final pricing is agreed upon prior to presentation.

What commission does The Private House Collection retain?

The House retains a 30% commission on the final sale price.

When do sellers get paid?

Seller proceeds are transferred within 48 hours of confirmed sale via bank transfer.

What happens if my piece does not sell?

If a piece remains unsold following the release and 24-Hour Private Drop, the House will contact the seller regarding collection arrangements or potential inclusion within a future release where appropriate.

What is the 24-Hour Private Drop?

Following each monthly release, remaining pieces continue within a limited private online viewing period shared exclusively with members of the Private List.

Created as a quieter continuation of the House, the 24-Hour Private Drop allows pieces from the monthly release to remain available for consideration for a limited additional period following the event.

Thoughtfully paced and intentionally limited, access closes after 24 hours.

How do I get my item to you?

Following approval, sellers receive personalised guidance regarding the delivery of each accepted piece.

Where appropriate, private collection may be arranged through the House to support a more seamless and carefully considered experience.

May I attend without purchasing?

Yes. Guests are warmly welcomed to explore the House, experience the release, and view the collection at their own pace.
